Review: Sweaty Betty Zohra Long Sleeve

February 2, 2017 / 25 Comments

It’s so easy to find cute leggings, but tops are always a bit tougher.  I mostly default to wearing basic tanks plus sometimes a pullover or jacket, so I’m always keeping my eye out for unique designs and stylish silhouettes in the top world.

The new Zohra LS from Sweaty Betty immediately caught my eye.  I’m a huge cobalt lover, plus the intricate lace design immediately called my name!

I fell in love with this top as soon as I took it out of the package.  The color is so vibrant and the detail is exquisitely luxe.  The mock neck adds an extra touch of elegance, too.  As the pictures show, it’s truly a gorgeous top in pretty much every way!

The top only comes in two sizes: S/M and M/L.  Seamless material is usually very stretchy, so I took a chance and ordered the S/M.  It fits more like an XS, but it has plenty of stretch that should accommodate a size S as well.  I have a tiny bit of extra room at the waist, which is common for me, but everywhere else it’s quite fitted.  If you’re a M or larger, I would go with the M/L size.  No matter your size, expect it to be skin-tight.

As you can see in the photos, it’s not very long, so if you’re quite tall you might find it a little short. (I am 5’3″.) The top also has comfortable, generously-sized thumbholes to help keep the sleeves firmly in place.

The top is very lightweight and, obviously, very breathable.  It’s not very warm all by itself, but layering a tank underneath would help if you’re wearing it for cold weather.  A contrasting color underneath can really bring out the cut-out details, too.  I plan to wear this well into spring and take it back out again in the fall.

One of my concerns with this top was that the cut-outs would make the top scratchy and uncomfortable.  But as soon as I put it on, I was so impressed with how soft, stretchy, and comfortable it is!  It feels like a second skin.

With all-over laser-cut details, it’s important to watch out for snags and tears.  Make sure to take off your jewelry before putting on a top like this. (I wore my rings while taking pics, but I wouldn’t wear them working out.)

The cut-out details are strategically placed to add interest without revealing anything you don’t want hanging out there.  The designers placed a solid panel over the belly and bust.  The overall look is feminine and alluring without being overly revealing.

Overall, I’m pretty head-over-heels for this top.  Its incredibly unique, bold design makes it easily one of my new favorites.  The price tag is definitely high compared to most of my tops, but I’m glad I gave it a chance.  It’s absolutely worth the price for me!

The Zohra LS is available here.  For a head-to-toe cobalt and lace look, add the matching Laila leggings.

P.S. Also wearing: Varley union tights in aluminum snake.

P.P.S. Just started the February spending freeze challenge?  Don’t buy this!  Resist! :) Start a spending freeze wishlist, add this one to it if you like, then revisit whether you still want it when March 1 comes around.

You look great! Love your whole outfit!
I just checked out those leggings on Bandier and they size of the scales is so much larger on yours (I like yours better!). I wonder if they vary a lot pair to pair (are yours from Bandier?)

Yup, got them from Bandier directly! The stock photo via Revolve looks a little closer to mine in terms of the scales: http://www.revolve.com/varley-leggings/dp/VARR-WM85/?d=Womens&page=1&lc=3&itrownum=1&itcurrpage=1&itview=01

Both stockists’ pics make the print look a little faded though, which it is not IRL. Varley’s own pics probably look the most true to life: http://www.varley.com/usa/union-aluminium-snake-legging.html

Thanks! Interesting that one of the Varley pics has the print going horizontal instead of vertical (kind of a big difference)… Oh well, who doesn’t love some good suspense when awaiting a purchase? lol.

Yeah, the pic of the pants floating in space doesn’t look like my pair at all, but the pics on the model are just like ’em!

I am the opposite. I generally find many tops I love but I keep my bottoms very simple and solid colors. However, I am a runner so I am likely looking at clothes with different functionality than you are, Ms. Awesome Crossfitter.

That top is beautiful as is the color.

Also–thanks for the nudge regarding the spending freeze. I’m in!

Hmm could be. I have no problem finding more casually oriented tops/wraps, but it seems like all tops are just simple designs in solid colors. Don’t get me wrong, I definitely wear those, but after you have a few, it starts to get less exciting.

P.S. Glad you’re on board with the spending freeze! :)

Wow this is crazy! It sucks that getting it legally sorted is so expensive. I only hope that true followers continue to buy werkshop and support their business.

Yeah I saw that. :( Fashion IP is notoriously difficult to enforce, and the fact that it’s overseas definitely makes it worse. I noticed the company has HORRIFIC reviews for never shipping product, so I hope they get shut down one way or another.

This top looks amazing! And especially with those Varley tights. Am in love with Varley and their prints in white. I bought the white marble print last year and love it! You’ve got me pining for the top but I’m going to have to uphold the challenge :( and just adore it on you instead;)

I’m wearing XS. They are a little see-through in a bend/squat but not terrible. There’s a seam across the middle-ish of the bum, and above that seam everything is double-layered and opaque, which helps a lot!

Thanks! :) I bet you’ll still be able to find metcon 2’s in a couple of weeks. :) I got the metcon 3’s in the mail a couple weeks ago, so I’m trying those out and seeing if I like them better than 2’s…
